Series winners and special awards were celebrated by Stonehouse Stables at the annual Winter Series Awards Banquet, held on March 11th at the Colonial Heritage Club. First through fourth place ribbons were awarded in each division. First place winners were: Meg Peters in Pre-Short Equitation; Nada Souiedan in Short Stirrup Equitation; Maggie Watson in Novice Hunter Pleasure and Beginner Equitation; Out of the Box, owned and ridden by Abigail Best in Working Hunter; In My Pocket, owned by Abigail Best and ridden by Olivia Batten in Winter Handy Hunter; Olivia Batten in Stonehouse Equitation; Ashgrove, owned and ridden by Kate Keller in Stonehouse Hunter Pleasure and Children's Adult Amateur Hunter; Aly Haynes-Traver in Stonehouse Equitation on the Flat; and Mya Manns in Student Equitation.
Special awards presented at the banquet went to: Surf 'N Sands Horsemanship Award - Stacey Schneider; My Pal Al Sportsmanship Award - Mya Manns; Candyland Wonder Pony Award - Rock and Roll "Elvis"; Most Improved Rider (Ring I) - Kayla Crawley; Most Improved Rider (Ring II) - Ellie Pruitt; Dusty Bottom Horsemanship Award - Lexi Gillette; Most Supportive Parent - Ann Harder; and Show Dad Award - Bob Keller.
A first at this year's banquet was the awarding of a United States Equestrian Federation Athletic Letter to Christoper Snyder. The US Equestrian Athlete Lettering Program is open to equestrian athletes in all breeds or disciplines who are currently members of US Equestrian or become US Equestrian members. Students participating in the program need to record 100 hours of riding or training and three competitions of any level or type to complete the requirements for that year. The program runs from June 1-May 31 of each year and will honor those who document their training and competition involvement by awarding emblems and pins. The program is open to junior and high school students.
