The BUG Program Continues to be a Big Success!

We are happy to announce that in February 2016, the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg Bringing Up Grades (BUG) program recognized 471 students kindergarten through second grade, for setting the goal of improving one grade in one subject while maintaining their other grades. On February 6, 2016 we recognized 191 students from D.J. Montague Elementary School for achieving their goals. The Kindergarten class goal was given for Counting to 100, 1st grade was for Place Value and 2nd grade for Rounding and Estimation. On February 16, 2016 we recognized 280 students at the inaugural BUG ceremony at Matoaka Elementary school. The Kindergarten class goal was Letter and Sound Recognition, the 1st grade goal was Addition and Fact Goal Improvement, and the 2nd grade goal was Math.

The BUG Ceremony recognizes the achievers in front of their peers, teachers and family members. The bulletin board at the school displays pictures from BUG ceremonies recognizing all the students who work hard for BUG in their chosen subjects!
The Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg is a proud sponsor of the program, and each student is presented with a BUG certificate and a coupon courtesy of Chick-fil-A at Monticello Marketplace, who is our BUG business sponsor for the third year in a row.
