The Opera in Williamsburg Cast of ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ Performs at Colonial Heritage

On April 18, 2017, the Opera in Williamsburg (OIW) cast of 'The Marriage of Figaro' performed at Colonial Heritage (CH) for a dinner concert and silent auction with over 85 attending. It was a great night of entertainment and fundraising for OIW organized by Linda Kligman-Try, Fundraising Chair, assisted by many volunteers of Colonial Heritage residents and OIW supporters. The silent auction was a success with 32 items bringing in over $1500. Linda and Frank Knuettel, Chair of the OIW Advisory Board, acted as MCs for the night. The cast gave a terrific selection of opera and popular numbers directed by Jorge Parodi, OIW conductor, to a very appreciative audience. The hit of the night was Habanera from Carmen, sung by Eliza Bonet, who sauntered through the audience to the delight of all the men. Eric Lindsey, bass-baritone, chimed in with I Am Glad I Am Not A Tenor to complement several arias from the upcoming opera on Friday at 8pm and Sunday April 23, 2017 at 2pm at the Kimball Theater. OIW Founder and Artistic Director, Naama Zahavi-Ely has organized a great upcoming season beginning with 'The Barber of Seville' performance this fall, October 20 & 22, 2017.
