'The Role of Women in Colonial and Revolutionary Churches in Tidewater.'

The Tidewater Virginia Historical Society (TVHS) extends its fall events with a January lecture. On Sunday, January 14, at 3 p.m., Anne Conkling, an expert on women's rights and their role in religion, will discuss 'The Role of Women in Colonial and Revolutionary Churches in Tidewater.' There are many questions about women as the religious anchor in the home, i.e.; Why did more men attend church than women? Why did gentry women marry at home?; Did children go to church? These questions, along with other interesting facts will be divulged during this informative lecture. This lecture is free and open to the public.
