The Virginia Choral Society (VCS) is pleased to announce the 2016 Vocal Music Scholarship Winner

The Virginia Choral Society (VCS) is pleased to announce the 2016 Vocal Music Scholarship Winner, Ms. Haley Griffith, graduating senior from Warhill High School, Williamsburg.

"Ms. Griffith, who is ranked second in her senior class, is a soprano and currently studies classical voice with Phaedra McNorton. Haley is a member of the Warhill Honors Choir, has attended District Choir every year since 2011, and was a 2015 and 2016 delegate for All-Virginia Chorus. She was selected for the 2015 Virginia Honors Choir (receiving the top Soprano I score in the state). She was also chosen to attend last summer's Governor's School for Visual and Performing Arts at Radford University to study vocal music. Haley is an accomplished pianist and has performed at numerous community benefits. She is also very active in Warhill's theatre program, where her lead roles have included "Laurey" in Oklahoma!, "Miss Dorothy" in Thoroughly Modern Millie, and "Sarah" in Guys and Dolls."

At our May 1, 2016 concert, Ms. Griffith will sing "My Lover is a Farmer Lad" by John Jacob Niles. Ms. Griffith will receive a $2000.00 award.
