The Virginia Choral Society (VCS) is pleased to announce the spring season concert series

The Virginia Choral Society (VCS), home-based in Newport News, is pleased to announce the concerts and venues for the spring season concert series on April 29-20 and May 1 with three presentations.

Our concert is entitled "Everyday Miracles."

This is our first spring concert series under the direction of our new artistic director, Ms. Sarah Frook.

Our spring concerts feature a pleasing selection of songs that capture these moments of peace, tranquility and joy. One moment might be as simple as what Robert Frost describes in his "The Road Not Taken" poem. In "Frostiana", Randall Thompson sets seven simple but profound Frost poems to music to create this beautiful choral work. You will love each of the seven musical poems. Or another moment may be a remembered time of love as suggested in the Scottish tune of "Loch Lomond". Other selections on the concert include "Der Abend" (The Evening) by Johannes Brahms and "The Gift to be Simple", a traditional Shaker tune.
