WILLIAMSBURG, VA, February 1, 2016 - The Woman's Club of Williamsburg-GFWC seeks scholarship applicants for academic year 2016.

The Woman's Club of Williamsburg is offering a $1000 scholarship to a high school senior at Bruton, Jamestown, Lafayette, and Warhill High Schools who is planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university. One scholarship will be awarded at each school.

Criteria for the award will include academic standing, leadership ability and extracurricular activities. Applicants also need two letters of recommendation from members of their high school staff (counselor or teacher) and must compose a 200 to 300 word essay explaining "What This Scholarship Means To Me." The applicant needs to provide a copy of an acceptance letter from an accredited university or college. Full details on the scholarship requirements and application process is available from the Guidance Departments of each high school. Submissions are due April 25, 2016.

The non-profit Woman's Club of Williamsburg-GFWC is a group of local women with a common interest in community welfare and philanthropic projects. The Club provides financial support for a variety of local, national and international humanitarian organizations. Visit for more information.
