Unitarian Universalists to Consider Messianic Hopes

This Sunday, Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists will be asked "The Thing With Feathers: What Are You Hoping For?" Humanity longs for saviors. Pacific Islanders believe that a great winged ship will arrive to transport the tribe into heaven. Muslims await the return of the revered Mahdi to herald the final days. Buddhists believe that Maitreya will deliver all beings from ignorance. Native Americans believe that the White Buffalo will signal a restoration of ancestral lands. For whom might Unitarian Universalists be longing - if anyone? How might such a person be recognized? Interim minister Rev. David Johnson will offer some reflections on messianic hopes, long ago and today. Services at 9:15 and 11:15 a.m.
