Unity Avenue to debut at cancer research fundraiser

Unity Avenue ensemble will give its debut performance during "An Evening of Art & Entertainment" this Saturday, April 2, beginning at 7 o'clock at the Williamsburg Library theater. Unity Avenue consists of local musicians who decided to come together in "unity" to support cancer research. Group members are: Bunny Blake on drums, Roy Phillips on bass guitar, pianist Daryl Byrd, and lead vocalist Mrs. Gail Tose. Also scheduled to perform at the event are: David Givens Sr., Iyonnya Stokes, Jessica Ruff, Brittny Marrow, the Mighty Supreme Voices, Iris Jimmerson, Brian Fuller, Isaiah Payne, Kalobe Saddler and Erica Smith. Artists, crafters and authors will also be on site displaying their work, including: Ashley Golden, Juanita S. Farrow, Mary Lassiter, Carla Brown-Burden, Joshua Fox and Lawrence Gerst. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for ages under 12. Call 229-7205 or 259-1176. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
