Virginia Choral Society to present "Sounds of the Season" December 12 and 13

This is our first Christmas concert series under the direction of our new artistic director, Sarah Frook. We are excited to continue some of our long-standing traditions as well as begin some new ones.

This weekend the Virginia Choral Society presents its Christmas concert series as follows:

Dec 12 (7:30pm) at the First United Church of Christ (Todds Lane between Big Bethel Rd and Farmington) and on
Dec 13 (4:00pm) at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church at the intersection of Fox Hill Road and Willow Oaks Blvd.

On the following weekend, our concerts are at Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church (6807 Huntington Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607). On Dec 19 the concert is at 7:30pm and on Dec 20 the concert is at 4:00pm.

We will help you get into the spirit of the season as we sing a variety of traditional and new music selections, both sacred and secular, ranging from "Of the Father's Love Begotten," which is accompanied by handchimes, to "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)" and from "The Holly and the Ivy" to "Jingle Bells." We will also present music in Latin, Hebrew and Russian.

New for this year, VCS has invited three local high school choirs (at each of the first three performances) to join with our family Christmas concerts for your added enjoyment. At the fourth concert our outstanding accompanist, Ms. Diane Snider, will present a solo Organ Performance for your enjoyment.

We hope you will join us and allow us to lift your spirits with "Sounds of the Season!" Bring the whole family for a delightful Christmas concert!
