Turf Love University -Helps Local Residents Create a Better Lawn

James City County/Williamsburg- The James City County Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) Turf Love Program stages two free educational programs per year for the public. The spring program, Turf University, which will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 at the James City County Recreation Center, addresses all aspects of low impact lawn care from basic lawn mower maintenance to how to make your own compost while avoiding environmental damage to the James City County watersheds.

Topics will include:

* Basic Mower Maintenance (Nick's Lawn Care).
* Low Impact Lawn Care ( Mark Tavares, Owner Project Green in Richmond)
* How To Make your own Compost ( Dennis Wool, VCE Master Gardener)
* Installing a Rain Garden and JCC's Rain Garden Rebate Program
(Bob Winters, certified Nutrient Plan writer and VCE Master Gardener ( emeritus ) and Carol Fryer, VCE Master Gardener)

In addition, VCE James City County/ Williamsburg Master Gardeners and local turf businesses will display the latest technology they have to offer the homeowner.

Super Turf Saturday is on April 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and is held at the James City County Recreation Center (5301Longhill Road). Please pre-register by calling 564-2172 and leave a message with name, phone, and number attending.
