Walnut Hills Baptist Church, 1014 Jamestown Road, recently packed 33,000 meals over a 4 hour period for Stop Hunger Now. Stop Hunger Now is a nonprofit organization which distributes meals to developing countries. Each meal includes rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a packet of vitamins and minerals. Most meals nourish school age children.
Some 90 volunteers from the church, community and from the U.S. Army Aviation Center at Ft. Eustis set up the work stations, packaged the meals, sealed, loaded into boxes and onto a truck.
Shown at one packing station are left to right: Bill Johnson, Sadie and Jacob Teer, Pat Johnson and Francie Teer.
For publication on Saturday's "church page".
