The Ruth Missionary Circle Ministry at St. John Baptist Church will host an Easter Bonnet Luncheon this Saturday, April 15, from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Men and women are invited to don their favorite chapeau and join in an Easter parade of hats.
What is the history of the Easter bonnet? An Easter bonnet is "any new or fancy hat worn at Easter, by tradition. It represents the tail-end of a tradition of wearing new clothes at Easter, in harmony with the renewal of the year and the promise of spiritual renewal and redemption with all the frills upon it."
Lunch will be served, and a freewill offering will be donated to Williamsburg Faith in Action. St. John is at 1397 Penniman Rd. Everyone is invited.
