Wilbert M. Wallace Scholarship Foundation celebrates 26th anniversary

The Wilbert M. Wallace Scholarship Foundation recently awarded scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each to four graduating seniors at the awards ceremony at their respective school. Recipients were: Kalobe Saddler, Bruton High School; Emily Wright, Tabb High; Nicole Harney, Jamestown High; and Kayla Woolston, Tabb High. The scholarship, named in honor of the late Wilbert M. Wallace, was established by his former student, the late Curtis L. Taylor.
Wallace was an instructor and administrator in the York County School System for more than 34 years. The scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors in York and James City counties and the City of Williamsburg. Each must meet the qualification requirements.
The foundation will celebrate its 26th anniversary at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Williamsburg Community Building on North Boundary Street. The speaker will be the Rev. David O. Spratley. Music will be provided by Mr. James Randall, saxophonist. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for ages 11 and under. For tickets or additional information, call Mr. Lloyd Wallace at 220-0807.
