The 14u Williamsburg All Stars, who will represent District 1 at the Babe Ruth Virginia state championships, took both halves of a doubleheader on July 8 in Newport News against the 13-15u Denbigh All Stars. Williamsburg won the first game 20-5 behind strong pitching from Jack Salamy and Travoz Harrold. Harrold allowed one run and one hit while striking out three in three innings of work. Williamsburg then took the second game 7-5 with Jacob Chew shutting down Denbigh in the early going. Chew allowed no runs and one hit in three innings of work, fanning five along the way. At the plate, the team demonstrated that they can hit from the top of the lineup to the bottom as ten different Williamsburg hitters collected at least one RBI. Jacob Chew, Isaac Tucker, Tyler Martin, and Josh Yanez led the way for the offense with three hits apiece. Next up for the 14u's is the state tournament, which kicks off for them in Emporia this Thursday against Augusta, the District 4 champs.
