Williamsburg Bicyclists Birthday/Awards Banquet

Williamsburg Area Bicyclists celebrated their 18th birthday with their annual Awards Banquet January 12. The club's more than 300 members run the gamut of age, ability and riding style: everything from casual "D pace" to fast "A pace. There are regularly scheduled rides virtually every week. Receiving awards were: Rick Nevins, Volunteer of the Year; Martha and Jim Gullo, Volunteer Couple of the Year; Dave Clark, Ride Leader of the Year; Jim Day, Most improved Rider of the Year; and Wayne Hay, High Mileage Rider of the Year. Hay logged over 8,000 miles on his bike in 2015. Included was a coast to coast ride from Virginia to Oregon. In addition, Ted Hanson and Deana Sun were given special awards. Hanson has worked tirelessly as a volunteer for the popular Virginia Capital Trail. Sun has served admirably as club president.
