In the recent Metro Athletic Conference meeting held at Atlantic Shores Christian School, Dr. David Breslin, Head of School at Williamsburg Christian Academy, was named as President of the Metro Athletic Conference.
Dave Breslin's past is deeply interwoven with athletics, both as a participant and as a coach. He was an All-American lacrosse goalie at Ohio Wesleyan University, and had two younger brothers who were also collegiate All-American lacrosse players. One brother, James, is now the assistant athletic director at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.
Breslin went on to a coaching career that spans two decades following his playing days. He's coached football, basketball, lacrosse, and soccer, including varsity lacrosse for eleven years at The Covenant School in Charlottesville. His teams won 11 conference championships and 5 state championships. Breslin also currently helps coach his 10 year old son's lacrosse team through the Williamsburg Warriors lacrosse program.
"I'm honored to serve as president of the METRO Conference, and together with the other METRO member schools, create opportunities for student athletes to explore their gifts and talents. The Metro has terrific heads of schools and athletic directors throughout the conference that have a big vision for what it can become, and we look forward to reaching new heights throughout the next few years," Breslin stated in connection with his appointment.
The position of President is a two-year term, and is typically held by one of the conference member Heads of School. Positional responsibilities of the Metro Conference President include serving as the head representative for the conference schools in terms of athletics and activities to VISAA and the state of Virginia, insuring conference policies are being followed and issuing sanctions to schools in violation, and coordinating votes for policy changes and additions. The President also chairs Metro Conference meetings and oversees the conference's budget.
Breslin takes over the post from Denbigh Baptist's Head of School Robert Law.
