Williamsburg, Va., May 19th, 2017- After an extensive search process, Williamsburg Christian Academy has named Mr. Kraig Ware as its new Athletic Director on Friday, May 19th. Ware will assume the Athletic Director Duties in July.

Kraig has spent extensive time in the corporate world, most recently as the VP of Operations for a local executive search firm. Kraig's passion has been to serve God through coaching and mentoring youth, and he is the founder of "To The Top" sports ministries. He and his wife, Lynn, are also the directors of the Kids Ministry at Upward Church in Williamsburg. Kraig graduated from Arkansas State University with a BS in Communications. While at ASU, Kraig was a defensive end for the Red Wolves football team.

"This selection was a difficult one, as quite a few exemplary candidates, even some all the way from Texas, applied for the position of Athletic Director," explained Head of School Dr. David Breslin. "In the end the selection committee felt that Kraig's infectious energy and passion, his commitment to impacting youth through athletics, and his many connections to the Williamsburg sports community through his involvement in so many sports organizations made him the choice to become our next Athletic Director."

Ware returns to WCA on staff, after he led WCA's JJV basketball team to the Metro Conference Championship in the 2015-2016 school year as a volunteer. Locally he has also coached for the Green Hornet Football Team, the City of Williamsburg Wolverine Basketball team, and the WYBL Rockies.

"God has been preparing and tugging at my heart for this opportunity, and I believe that WCA is a beacon on a hill that stands like no other school in our area," Ware asserted in a recent communication to the WCA community, "I know that God is assembling a team at WCA to make His beacon shine brighter than ever in our community and around the world as we equip the next generation of dynamic Christian leaders. I am simply humbled to be a part of His team and I'm humbled to work with the present, the past, and the future WCA community."

Kraig and his wife Lynn are parents to three sons, Shelton, Ashton, and Easton. He sees WCA as the biggest challenge he has ever been called to meet in his career, and sees a lot of potential in the WCA Athletic Program. "I'm excited to build a diverse line-up of highly competitive sports teams that will compete in and out of our conference. The leadership has a vision for greatness at WCA, including its athletic programs, and we have an incredible facility with plenty of developed and undeveloped land to expand to harness such a vision."

Williamsburg Christian Academy's mission is to provide college preparatory instruction in a culture of grace through personalized learning in academics, arts, and athletics while building relationships that inspire students to serve their community and become Christ-centered leaders.
