HAMPTON, VA I April 24, 2017 - Give Local 757, an annual 24-hour online fundraising event that allows citizens to connect to and support organizations that address our community's most pressing challenges, will take place on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, from midnight to midnight.
The event is hosted and coordinated by the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, Peninsula Community Foundation, the United Way of the Virginia Peninsula and Bank of America. The goal for 2017 is to raise $1-million in 24 hours for over 200 local nonprofits. Last year, Give Local 757 collected over 8,000 donations totaling $610,000 from every city in the region, from every state in the country and from as far away as Hong Kong.
On May 9, individuals can become donors by making contributions to the nonprofit(s) of their choice through www.givelocal757.org in amounts as low as just $10. Gifts are amplified through a $55,000 prize incentive pool throughout the day, which the non-profits can win with the help of their donor base. This is Williamsburg Montessori's 2nd year participating. This year, donations can be made to the following areas: Outdoor classrooms funds, technology, Montessori Teacher Training, the Annual Fund and Montessori Classroom Materials. In order to make your donation to Williamsburg Montessori School, please visit https://www.givelocal757.org/williamsburgmontessori.
"At Bank of America, one of the tenets of our responsible growth strategy includes investing in our communities," said Charlie Henderson, Hampton Roads market president, Bank of America. "That is why we are committed to the Give Local 757 initiative and the goal of raising $1 million to support our local nonprofits."
"We have been thrilled with the results of Give Local," said Michael Monteith, CEO of the Peninsula Community Foundation. "We asked our community on both sides of the harbor to embrace this campaign, and they responded beyond our wildest dreams. Most importantly, we proved that when our area comes together as one, we can make great things happen."
