Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra partners with W-JCC Schools to enhance music education

The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra (WSO), official education partner of Williamsburg-James City County (WJCC) Schools, conducted its annual "Meet the Musicians" program at nine local elementary schools June 6-8, reaching approximately 850 fourth grade students. At some schools, fifth grade students in the band and/or orchestra also joined the assembly. WSO's "Meet the Musicians" initiative, one of several educational programs carried out by the Symphony each year, introduces elementary students to the joy of classical music while also meeting Virginia's Standards of Learning requirements. The Symphony's educational programs reach approximately 7,500 students annually. The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra String Trio performing this year's educational concerts included violist Jena Chenkin, violinist Stacy Matthews, and cellist Peter Greydanus.
