WIlliamsburg UMC presents "My Blood is Rising"

In observance of Holy Week, Williamsburg United Methodist Church, located at 500 Jamestown Road, presents My Blood is Rising, a drama by C. Mark Smith, on Maundy Thursday, April 13th, at 7:00 PM, in the Sanctuary.

My Blood is Rising is a drama from the perspective of the Jewish leadership of Jesus' day, as they struggle to deal with the appearance of Jesus, a Nazarene from Galilee. It traces Jesus, from being just a rumor in the distance, until the time He becomes such a threat that the Sanhedrin (the Jewish leadership) actively and intentionally seek to have him crucified.

The community is invited to come and experience the friction of the Pharisees and Sadducees as they struggle with the reality of the Messiah who threatens their position and power. The drama is interspersed with choral music from the Williamsburg UMC Sanctuary Choir, including the title "Were We There?" an anthem by Pamela Martin and Craig Courtney. This is the question we ponder. . .were we there? If we had been there, what might our thoughts have been concerning this Man, this God, this Messiah? Would we have believed him or would we have yelled "Crucify!"

Upon the conclusion of My Blood is Rising, Holy Communion will be served and is open to all. Free Child Care will be provided.
