Woman’s Club Seeks Scholarship Applicants for Academic Year 2015

The Woman's Club of Williamsburg-GFWC will offer a $2000 scholarship to one high school senior at each local high school (Bruton, Jamestown, Lafayette, and Warhill High Schools) who is planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university.

Information on the scholarship requirements will be available in the Guidance Departments of each high school. The Scholarship Coordinator of the Woman's Club will receive completed applications from the Guidance Departments April 27, 2014.

Criteria for the award will include academic standing, leadership ability and extracurricular activities. Applicants will need two letters of recommendation from members of their high school staff (counselor or teacher) and must compose a 200 to 300 word essay explaining "What This Scholarship Means to Me." The applicant also needs to provide a copy of an acceptance letter from an accredited university or college dated prior to April 27, 2014.

Scholarship winners, accompanied by a parent or school representative, will be guests at the May 27 luncheon of the Woman's Club of Williamsburg-GFWC, at which time recipients will make brief remarks to club members based on their submitted essay.
