Yorktown Preservation Society Presents "The Nelsons of Yorktown"

The Yorktown Preservation Society will meet Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Parish Hall of Grace Episcopal Church, Yorktown. The public is invited to attend.

The program to be presented is titled "The Nelsons of Yorktown." Yorktown played a major role as the port town for the Virginia colony and as the site of the last battle of the Revolutionary War, but most of us know very little about Yorktown's most prominent family, the Nelsons. Member Lois Winter has researched the story of 'Scotch Tom Nelson, his two sons, William and Thomas, and his grandson, Thomas Nelson Jr. Using some of their own words, their story will be presented as a reader's theater/slide show at the next Yorktown Preservation Society meeting on March 6. It will remind us of the important role the Nelsons played in the foundation of our country.
