Youth Sunday observed; Black History Month portrayal

Youth Sunday will be observed at Saint John Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Feb. 19. The youths of the church will lead the service, including serve as worship leader, lead the morning prayer, read the Scriptures and read announcements of the day. Pastor Walter Hudson will preach, and music will be provided by the Children's Choir as well as Youth 4 Christ, singing a cappella selections and Negro spirituals. In addition, Christopher Mathis II will portray President Barack Obama during the Welcome to Visitors. Children's Church will be available to ages 5-9, as will Nursery for ages 4 months-4 years. Sunday school, which begins at 9 a.m., is open to ages 3 years up to adults. This week's lesson is entitled, "Stand Firm in Christ," based on Galatians 5:1-17. Saint John is at 1397 Penniman Rd., where everyone is welcome.
