UPDATED: 8:45 a.m.: A third person has been arrested in connection with a Tabb High teen’s death earlier this year. The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office filed a warrant for the arrest of 20-year-old Alphonzo Jackson Thursday morning and the Hampton Police Division arrested him between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. last night in Hampton without incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

Jackson has been charged with accessory to murder, accessory to robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, according to York-Poquoson Lt. Dennis Ivey.

Earlier

Jackson had previously provided information to the sheriff’s office about events before and after the shooting. When asked why the charge was coming nearly three months after the incident, Ivey said the investigation has continued and “we were able to determine there was probable cause to charge him with this.”

Deputies were still looking for Jackson Thursday afternoon, Ivey said.

Dylan Peters was shot several times through the front door of his family’s home on Jan. 27 and died shortly afterward. Sheriff J.D. “Danny” Diggs has said there was “a drug element involved” in the killing and that it wasn’t a “random act of violence.”

Since then, 17-year-old Evan Tyler has been charged with second-degree murder, attempted robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was scheduled to go before the York County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Thursday but Tyler’s attorney asked for a delay, according to the York-Poquoson Commonwealth’s Attorney Office. The hearing was rescheduled for June 15.

A second person, 20-year-old Tevin Lambert, was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. His preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for June 8 in juvenile court. Lambert allegedly gave Tyler a backpack to use when he went to Peters’ home to steal drugs and assisted Tyler with the robbery by making phone calls to Peters, according to a criminal complaint.

On the day Peters died, Tyler, Lambert and Jackson allegedly gathered in the Coventry subdivision of York County.

Jackson told police that Tyler had a pistol stuck down into his pants while they walked to his house, according to a criminal complaint.

Later, Lambert and Tyler sent text messages to Peters to try to arrange a drug purchase, according to the complaint.

Tyler allegedly went toward Cattail Lane where Peters lived and Lambert and Jackson went to a girl’s home, who wasn’t home.

As they turned around to go back to Jackson’s home, Jackson said he heard several gun shots. When Jackson got back to his house, Tyler was there and allegedly told him “he had shot Dylan” and didn’t get any drugs or money, the complaint said.
