Emergency responders, law enforcement hold regional training exercise at Busch Gardens Wednesday | With Video

Local, state and federal law enforcement and emergency responders participated in a joint regional training exercise at Busch Gardens Williamsburg Wednesday.

The training exercise simulated a complex critical incident and mass casualty event at a public venue, according to a news release from the FBI, one of the participating agencies.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS);Virginia State Police; Hampton Police; James City County Police, Emergency Management and Fire/EMS; Newport News Police, Emergency Management, and Fire/EMS; Williamsburg Police and Fire/EMS; York Poquoson Sheriff and Fire/EMS; Busch Gardens Security; and Riverside Regional Medical Center also participated in the training.

The exercise wass not in response to any current threat or specific security concerns. It aims to promote preparation and collaboration among federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and first responders, officials said.
