Williamsburg police identified the 25-year-old man hit and killed by a train early Friday morning.

The victim was identified Monday as Kenneth Gene Graham III of Shady Spring, West Virginia, according to Major Greg Riley.

The incident happened about 3:10 a.m. in the 700 block of Lafayette, slightly north of William and Mary.

A train operator notified officials of the accident, which occurred at a portion of the tracks behind homes, said Riley said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police spoke to witnesses who said the man was struck when crossing the tracks to get to his hotel, Riley said.
