Man arrested on murder, DUI charges in connection with fatal York County hit-and-run, official says

A 56-year-old Grafton man is charged in connection with a February 1 hit-and-run that killed a York County woman and seriously injured another person, an official said.

Alyssa Lynne Rhoades, 23, of Yorktown, died from injuries she suffered when she was hit by a vehicle on Route 17 in York County. Another person was also seriously injured. The driver did not stop, according to Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

After a two-month investigation by Virginia State Police troopers and special agents, Kevin Anthony Boone was identified in connection with the incident. He was arrested and charged May 6, according to Anaya.

Tips and information provided by the public assisted with the investigation, Anaya said.

Boone is charged with DUI manslaughter, DUI maiming, felony murder, felony DUI, revocation of license for multiple convictions of DUI, felony hit and run-injury, and involuntary manslaughter, according to Anaya.

He is being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond, she said.

Feb. 6 update: A 23-year-old woman who was hit by a vehicle on along Route 17 near Grafton Drive Sunday night has died, Virginia State Police said.

Alyssa Lynne Rhoades, of Yorktown, died from her injuries about 5 p.m. Friday at Riverside Regional Medical Center, state police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya said.

Feb. 2: Two people are in the hospital suffering from major injuries after they were hit by a vehicle in York County Sunday night, a Virginia State Police spokeswoman said.

The incident happened between 9:30 and 10 p.m. on Route 17 near Grafton Drive, Sgt. Michelle Anaya said in an email.

The two individuals, one male and one female, were walking southbound on Route 17 when they were hit by an unknown vehicle that left the scene, she said.

Police do not have a description of a vehicle or a witness in the case. It is currently being investigated as a hit-and-run, Anaya said.

The victims were taken to Riverside Hospital. Their current condition and information about how old they are or where they live has not been released.
