Three guilty in home robbery and assault in Gloucester

GLOUCESTER – Three men were found guilty of assaulting a man and stealing guns and ammunition from a home in Gloucester last fall.

Deputies were called to a house on Ark Road at 10:48 p.m. on Oct. 3 for an assault and robbery of a 23-year-old man in his home, according to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office. During the assault, the sheriff’s office said, the victim’s girlfriend left the home and called for help.

Deputies were given a vehicle description and found a vehicle with the three men a short time later. They found the stolen items in the vehicle.

According to the sheriff’s office the men stole two handguns, a rifle, DVD recorder for a home security system, two safes, ammunition, and some personal items.

On July 19, Derrick Wayne Bragg, 22, of Strasburg, Va., and Anthony Shane Sayetta, 24, of Gloucester, were found guilty of malicious wounding and robbery in Gloucester Circuit Court. According to court records, both men were sentenced to 10 years in jail with 8 years suspended on each charge. A judge also placed them both on indefinite supervision and ordered to pay $1,607 in restitution.

Thor Alexis-Jerel Bragg, 25, Strasburg, Va., was also found guilty of malicious wounding and robbery. He was sentenced to 10 years in jail with 7 years suspended on each charge. He was placed on indefinite supervision and also ordered to pay $1,607 in restitution.

The sheriff’s office said the victim was taken to the hospital, treated for injuries and released.
