Pleasant Labor Day paired with coastal flood advisory

Forecasters are predicting some sun for Labor Day but are warning people of potential flooding during high tide.

A coastal flood advisory is in place for Hampton, Newport News, James City County, Poquoson and Isle of Wight. That means there could be minor flooding in low-lying areas during high tide, which could happen between noon and 1 p.m. on most Peninsula locations.

The high is expected to be 82 degrees, with wind speeds between 8 and 14 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Gusts could be as high as 22 mph.

The day will be partly sunny, with a low at night of 68 degrees, forecasters predict.
