A woman was taken to the hospital and residents are displaced after a truck crashed into a Hampton home Tuesday night, an official said.

Firefighters and medics responded to the accident in the 500 block of Carters Grove Court about 9:45 p.m., Hampton Fire and Rescue Safety Officer Scott Doggette said at the scene.

A Chevy Silverado with two women inside crashed through a brick fence along Woodland Road, drove through the back yard and then into the side of an attached garage.

The women were trapped inside the truck, and firefighters had to free them, Doggette said.

One of the women was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, he said.

The home suffered significant structural damage and is condemned, fire department spokesman Battalion Chief Anthony Chittum said in a news release. All utilities were disconnected.

Firefighters stayed on scene until about 1 a.m. building temporary supports to stabilize the home for public safety, Chittum said.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash, he said.
