Theresa Petry

General Assignment Reporter

Theresa PetryTheresa Petry's love of the written word is what led her to pursue a career in journalism. Since 2002, she has been a news reporter for CW 11 News. As a journalist, Theresa researches newsworthy stories in and around the St. Louis area, bringing her results to the television audience. Recently, she exposed the dangers that firefighters faces when answering an alarm, and motorists fail to yield to the emergency vehicles. This report had such impact that stricter enforcement legislation was taken to the Governor to be passed into law.

Prior to returning to her hometown of St. Louis, she reported for KOLR-TV, the CBS affiliate in Springfield, MO. Moving up the ranks quickly, she was soon appointed to weekend anchor. In 1999, the station became a duopoly with FOX, and she moved into anchoring and reporting for the FOX affiliate. Theresa has also worked for the ABC affiliate in Springfield, where she wrote, produced and voiced commercials, which then led to the morning anchor position. Her media career began at Southwest Missouri State University, where she received a bachelor's degree in Socio/Political Communications with minors in Broadcast Journalism and English, and she co-hosted a morning radio program.

Theresa enjoys cooking and gardening, reads constantly, plays the piano, and volunteers recording books on tape for the blind. She spends most of her free time with family, including two nieces Maeve and Hanna and two nephews, Nathan and Reid, who call her the "candy aunt!" She loves living in "The Best Sports City Ever" and enjoys the Cardinals, Blues and spending time with friends, exploring all St. Louis has to offer.

You can watch Theresa Petry on CW 11 News weeknights at 9pm.
