Last Word on dental insurance, March 28

Reader worried that Canada's Syrian refugees will make their way to the U.S.

Dental insurance

We complainers and the average adult fully understand how dental insurance works!  The complaints were directed at a dental group which was not satisfied with what insurances allowed and chose to encourage patients to pay for the group's own insurance (restricted to their group and this area).  Our insurance was providing above average allowances for our area (allowances, not discounts).  Our in-network providers have the privilege of going through our insurance's different networks for even higher allowances.  Our insurance was superior to the Group's in all respects. This group has since reconsidered and will continue being a provider under our insurance. We, like others, have moved on.

I just came home from a very pleasant evening. I attended a Mature Singles Network Gathering at the Center Street Grill. While I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the service, the best part was the nice people I met. I understand that MSN meets the third Saturday of each month in various Williamsburg area restaurants. I look forward to each Gathering. If you are 55 years old or more, single and looking for fun, folks, you can get more information at See you there?

We're locals and recently noticed that the dining room at Colonial Heritage was open to locals.  We ate there last night and, Wow!  What a treat!  The food was exceptional and reasonably priced.  The atmosphere beautiful, and the service was absolutely superb!  If you haven't been, you need to go.  I guarantee you'll go back!

Shooting range

What is the progress on the proposed shooting range to be built near Route 199, not far from the Marquis Shopping Center?

Canadian problems

Just when we thought that we only had to worry about our border with Mexico, now that Canada has elected a liberal for their prime minister, now we also have to worry about the Canadian border. When their new prime minister was on 60 Minutes, he stated that they will be taking in 25,000 Syrian refugees. Didn’t he learn anything from what’s happening in Europe? More importantly, I wonder how many of the refugees will make it to the U.S. and end up being terrorists.

Changes ahead

Better sit tight, Democrats, your party is almost over.  Maybe then you’ll understand what it means to work for a living and not live off of entitlements. By the way, Social Security isn’t an entitlement; you pay into it and just get it back for all your years of hard work.

Looking for …

I lost my Fitbit in an orange wrist band the evening of Friday, March 12th.  We parked in New Town across from Panera Bread, attended a reception at New Town Art Gallery and then shopped at Walmart.  If found it would be very much appreciated if you would call 757-259-0867.  A reward is offered.

National debt

In this day and age, it is so easy to get correct answers to any question!  Our national debt in January 2009, when Obama took office, was 10.626 trillion.  Today it is 18 trillion and is expected to be 20 trillion by the time Obama leaves office! The 10 trillion it will have increased under this president will equal the entire debt under the previous 43 presidents. Thank you.

Disorganized visit

I visited Busch Gardens today to sign up for the new brew house beer stein.  Quite frankly, I have never seen such a poorly planned, disorganized and mismanaged operation as I saw today.  If this is any indication of what the new park management intends to provide, I wish I had not purchased my season pass for this year.  It will definitely be my last.

Manners, please

Do parents teach manners or social skills to their children any more?!  I am working hard at raising three young children and believe it is imperative to instill respect and values; it takes time and effort, people! I am frequently appalled at the behavior and attitude from the children I see every day. Apparently, their parents think it’s acceptable. My dog acts more appropriately than most of the kids in this town!
