A 55-year-old Orland Park woman was killed and a man critically injured in a head-on crash in south suburban Palos Park on Thursday, police said.

In a separate head-on crash earlier in the day Thursday in that suburb, a 35-year-old Orland Park man and a 51-year-old man were seriously injured, according to a posting on Palos Park police Facebook page.

Just after 9 p.m., police and fire crews responded to the collision on 123rd Street between Wolf Road and Will Cook Road. Fire officials had to extricate both drivers from their cars.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle in that crash, a 32-year-old Hickory Hills man, was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Facebook post.

Earlier, just before 6 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a head-on crash at 123rd and Southwest Highway, and police have charged Brian Fox of Orland Park with driving under the influence of drugs, with additional charges pending, according to the post. Fox was taken to Advocate Christ, and the Indiana man who was the driver of the other vehicle in that collision was in serious condition at Palos Community Hospital, police said.
