As we head into the weekend, here are three upcoming events you won't want to miss:

American Scenery. The Peninsula Fine Arts Center in Newport News (101 Museum Drive) opens a new exhibit on Sunday — “American Scenery: Different Views in the Hudson River School Painting.” The exhibit features more than 100 paintings by artists who worked in and around the Hudson River Valley in the mid-19th century, focusing on landscapes that would be irrevocably changed by both the Civil War and the Industrial Revolution. Admission is $7.50 adults, $4 children. 757-596-8175 or pfac-va.org.

The Magic and Music of Motown. The acclaimed Hurrah Players troupe from Norfolk comes to The American Theatre in Hampton (125 E. Mellen Street) with its show celebrating The Magic and Music of Motown. Among the featured performers are the Dent Family, pictured, who will sing “Do You Love Me?” The show will feature great songs and spectacular presentations from decades of Motown stars. Showtimes are at 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday. All seats $10. Info: 757-722-2787 or hamptonarts.net.

Code Blue bluegrass. The Kimball Theatre, on Colonial Williamsburg’s Merchants Square, will feature the red-hot bluegrass of Code Blue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The group’s show mixes traditional and original tunes, all played with high energy. All seats $18. Info: 757-565-8588 or kimballtheatre.com.
