“Early on the morning of April 22 on my way to work, I was involved in a single-vehicle accident. Since I have no memory of the accident, I was told it occurred in the area of the on-ramp from Route 199 onto Interstate 64 eastbound. My wife tells me I called her from my cell phone, told her I’d had an accident, then hung up. When she called back, a man who had stopped to help answered my phone and told her where the accident was and that he was applying something to my head wound to stem the bleeding. When my wife arrived at the scene, a lone state trooper told what hospital I had been taken to. The man who helped me had already left. We don’t know his name, but I wish to express not only my own but my family’s gratitude and undying thanks as well. We also wish to thank the state troopers and rescue squad. Though I have no memory of what happened, I thank God for these people. My family and I refer to the kind stranger who helped as my guardian angel.”

Remember when the Golden Horseshoe Club was in the Williamsburg Inn basement. It was a bottle club before liquor by the drink for locals and some Inn guests. Charles Cook was manager and Sam Roberts was a head waiter. Small bands provided music for dancing on Friday and Saturday nights.

Gas station on Capitol Landing Road which was owned by Mr. Kelly. Now is Sal's Pizza-Pottery was a great place to shop. Winter the town was empty and you could make it all the way from Toano to Wmsburg in 10 minutes there were no lights. Miss those days...
