Waterway clarity

Powhatan Creek is among 13 local waterways described as “impaired” in a new state environmental report. Fecal coliform is blamed for polluting eight of the 13 waterways. Among other sources, fecal coliform comes from farm and stormwater runoff. The result is decreased oxygen levels that strangle fish.

People who move here sometimes wonder why the city government buildings aren’t designed as colonial, like the Historic Area. The reasoning is that they should not compete with Colonial Williamsburg, because that’s the real thing.
