PCU Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) Sponsor Susan Ford Bales, Commanding Officer Captain John F. Meier and Rolf Bartschi, vice president of CVN 78 construction, cut the first slice of cake during the ship’s galley opening ceremony. The crew of the future USS Gerald R. Ford reached a major milestone Aug. 3 as they moved aboard the ship and shared the first meal prepared in the galley. Ford is currently undergoing outfitting and testing and is scheduled for delivery in spring 2016.
