Mollie Trainum writes essay on Dream Catchers

Mollie Trainum, a local 16-year-old, combined her two passions, creative writing and horses, and placed runner-up in a national writing contest. She was recognized for her touching story "Miracle Mare," inspired by the life-changing experiences gained as a rider and volunteer at Dream Catchers at the Cori Sikich Therapeutic Riding Center. Mollie has been a rider at Dream Catchers since the facility opened on Fire Tower Road, only missing one session due to a surgery. She has Marfan syndrome, a connective tissue disorder, and due to its complications, her physical activities are significantly limited. However, during the time she is in the barn at Dream Catchers, she is both physically and mentally liberated. Pictured are Mollie and "Indy."
