A second person has been arrested and charged with second degree murder in connection to the June 30, 2016 death of Austin Baxley, according to a York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office news release.
Amina Washington, 24, was arrested by the Virginia Beach Police Fugitive Unit and has no known address in Virginia Beach, according to the news release.
The Portsmouth Police Department assisted in her search, the release stated.
Baxley, who had recently graduated Churchland High School at the time of his death, was shot multiple times and found shortly after midnight on a tour road overpass crossing Crawford Road in York County, according to a 2016 news release from the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office.
Washington was also charged with the use of a firearm in a felony, first offense. She is scheduled for a Sept. 19 hearing in York General District Court.
Julian Rios of Portsmouth was initially charged with second degree murder, but the charge has been upgraded to first degree murder. His next hearing is scheduled for May 30 in York Circuit Court. Rios also faces a charge of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Rios' case is scheduled to be heard in York General District Court on Sept. 27. Second-degree murder is punishable by up to 40 years in prison, according to Virginia legal code.
