Business notes: Jan. 14

The Virginia Beer Company will be open for an extra day each week in 2017: The company will now open on Mondays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"We've been in business for about nine and a half months and business has been good and we wanted to add an extra day," said co-founder, Robby Willey.

The Virginia Beer Company will still be open on Wednesday and Thursday from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. The brewery is open from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"It gives everyone an extra chance to come out," Willey said. "We wanted to make things a little easier for folks."

Willey also said Mondays will be an "industry night," where people who work in the food and beverage industry will recieve discounts.

•The Sunoco at 1510 Richmond Road is slated to become a 7-Eleven, according to the City of Williamsburg. The Sunoco shut down weeks ago and construction is underway.

Michelle DeWitt, Economic Development Director at City of Williamsburg, said the city does not know when the new business will open.

•Gentiva Home Health and Gentiva Hospice changed its name to Kindred At Home and Kindred Hospice. The move was made to better reflect their participation in the Kindred Healthcare network. Management, ownership and staff was not affected by the branding.

Kindred Healthcare is a private health-care service company based in Louisville.

The name change will affect branches in Williamsburg and Virginia Beach.

•Discover Teas, located on Pocahontas Trail, is moving to Newport News at the Port Warwick Shoppes later this month.

Discover Teas is hosting a Grand Moving Celebration on Jan. 28 beginning at noon.

There will be a silent auction, live music and tea sharing throughout the day.

Discover Teas Williamsburg's last day of business will be Jan. 30th.

•The Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance is hosting a brown bag linch on Jan. 18 from noon to 1 p.m. The theme of this installment is avoiding business disputes and tips on litigating business disputes.

•The Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance is looking for vendors for its career fair on March 1 at the Fort Magruder Hotel and Conference Center.

Exhibit space is $300 for members of the chamber and $400 for non members.
