The governor’s office presented Billsburg Brewery with a $100,000 from the Virginia Tourism Growth Fund on Thursday.

The funds will be used for additional infrastructure improvements. The Virginia Tourism Growth Fund is a state program established to grow tourism development projects in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Billsburg Brewery will bring nine new jobs to the county.

The check presentation took place at Billsburg Brewery, located at 2054 Jamestown Road. Todd Haymore, state secretary of commerce and trade, presented the check.

Billsburg Brewery will join other breweries in the Williamsburg area including the Brass Cannon Brewing Company, Alewerks, Amber Ox Brewery and the Virginia Beer Company.

“It means a lot to me that the state has looked at our vision and recognized what we’re doing is valuable,” said owner, Dave Baum. “We appreciate the entire county support.”

Williamsburg Area Restaurant Association announced Revolution Golf & Grill as a new member. WARA new members for 2017 include Cochon on 2nd, Culinary Institute of Virginia, 1607 Grill, Aromas, The Hounds Tale, Tuscany Ristorante, Culture Café, Corner Café, Cogan’s Deli and Sports Pub and Brass Cannon Brewing.

Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer reports the following recent lease transactions in the Hampton Roads area: Ladybug Consignment leased 2,129 sq.ft. in Williamsburg Crossing Shopping Center at 5251 John Tyler Hwy.

Grunow’s Kitchen, located in the Heritage Square Shopping Center at 4336 George Washington Memorial Highway, celebrated a grand reopening on Sept 22.

Formerly Med Meals 4 You, the restaurant provides freshly prepared meals to people with unique dietary needs or restrictions. Grunow’s Kitchen also serves Mediterranean foods for both dine-in and carry-out.

Skrimp Shack is coming soon at 6588 Richmond Road.

A building permit was issued by the county on Aug. 7 and the restaurant is currently under construction. Skrimp Shack has six stores in eastern Virginia. The restaurant serves fish sandwiches, fries, macaroni and cheese and other dishes.
