The Peninsula Agency on Aging held a job fair on Oct. 5 at the The Historic Triangle Messmer Community Services Center.

“We do the job fair as an annual event for people 40 years old and above because that’s when people start seeing age discrimination,” said Dianne Hartley, director at the Peninsula Agency on Aging. “Employers know that these people are reliable and have strong customer relation skills.”

Employers who participated include Eastern State Hospital, Riverside Health Systems and H&R Block.

The Williamsburg Premium Outlets now has two new stores: See’s Candies and Book Warehouse.

“We are pleased to announce these new options for our guests — perfect for stocking up during those holiday shopping sprees,” said Brandy Coffee, general manager of Williamsburg Premium Outlets, in a news release. “The additions of See’s Candies and Book Warehouse bring decadent treats and entertaining reads to Santa’s helpers looking to stock up and save on a collection of gifts for everyone on their list.”

See’s Candies is a popup holiday candy store and Book Warehouse is a permanent store that sells books, calendars and magazines.

See’s Candies is located between Ben and Jerry’s and Le Creuset. Book Warehouse is located between Burberry and Cole Haan.

Howard Hanna announced its Hometown Heroes program Tuesday.

The program is available to qualified homebuyers who are U.S. military personnel (active duty or honorably discharged), police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians or paramedics.

“It is our sincere desire to help make homeownership a reality for our hometown heroes and their families,” said Duffy Hanna, president of Hanna Financial, in a news release.

The Howard Hanna Hometown Heroes program begins on Nov. 11 and will run through Feb. 11, 2018.
