WILLIAMSBURG - Adults and kids from all over the peninsula came together to raise more than $3,000 on Saturday and about $4,000 in online donations to support Big Brothers Big Sisters.
More than 500 people on 111 teams took turns bowling either one game or one hour, whichever came first, during the day on Saturday during "Bowl for Kids' Sake." It's the annual fundraiser for the organization, which relies on donations to support its programs, services and events throughout the year.
Every dollar helps, according to Ayanna King, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Virginia Peninsula.
She said the organization has an annual operating budget of about $380,000, and serves about 380 kids throughout the peninsula.
"It goes right to the source," King said, adding that the best part is "you get to laugh, dance, and have fun while supporting what we do."
