James City offering matching grants for sustainable neighborhood projects

JAMES CITY – Neighborhood groups and homeowner associations are eligible for James City County's fall 2014 Good Neighbor Environment Matching Grant Program, which offers up to $500 for projects that enhance the local environment while bringing people together.

Sponsored by the James City Clean County Commission, the grants will be awarded to sustainable projects that encourage a "sense of community through neighborhood involvement." There are two categories: "physical improvement/sustainable landscaping" and "multi-neighborhood project partnerships."

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Sept. 1. The grant application is available at http://www.jamescitycountyva.gov/grants.
