A Bruton family is being assisted by the Red Cross after a fire damaged the garage attached to their home Wednesday morning in the 700 block of Queensbury Lane, according to York County fire officials.

No injuries were reported to the home’s occupants or emergency personnel, York County Fire and Life Safety fire chief Stephen Kopczynski said in a news release.

When the fire department arrived, the two-story home was on fire, and the occupants had already exited the structure. Responders needed about 10 minutes to get the fire under control, Kopczynski said.

The James City County Fire Department and Williamsburg Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
