JAMES CITY - A county woman is facing two felony charges after police say she made $10,000 in unauthorized charges on her mother's credit card.

Denise M. Cannon, 32, was arrested Monday and charged with credit card theft and credit card fraud, according to Stephanie Williams-Ortery with James City police.

Williams-Ortery said on May 29 a woman reported that her daughter, identified as Cannon, told her that a friend had taken and was using her credit card. Investigators believe Cannon actually took and used the card, she said.

Cannon made numerous purchases on the card, according to Williams-Ortery, and primarily used the card for cash advances.

Cannon admitted to officers that she took the card and made mostly cash withdrawals, Williams-Ortery added.
