Thank you for helping raise funds, awareness

The Virginia Gazette

The ladies' golf associations at Ford's Colony Country Club held their 19th annual golf tournament fundraiser on Oct. 6 to benefit breast cancer awareness, research into the causes and new trends in treatment. The Susan G. Komen-Tidewater organization, which also provides community grants to aid in diagnosis and assistance to women undergoing treatment, received close to $9,000 this year, and the cumulative total of funds raised since 1997 for the cause has now topped $200,000. In addition to prizes for the winners of the "fun" nine-hole tournament, there were over 50 door prizes donated by merchants and individuals, who responded with enthusiasm to the committee's requests. The following provided our event door prizes and special favors:

Acclaimed Appearance, Addicted to Golf, Atir Nail Salon, Belk Department Store, Bonefish Grill, Chickadees, Pat Cowan, European Beauty Concepts, Food For Thought, Ford's Colony Country Club Pro Shop (Zack Bowman, Richard Rice, Eric Simmons), Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, The Guild Hall, Blink, The Yorktown Onion, Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant, Honey Butter's Kitchen, Holy Mackerel Seafood Grill, Imperial Olive, Jim De's Hair Salon, K Nails, Jeanne Keller (Wm.
