Emails reveal school board back story

The Virginia Gazette

A big thank you to the Virginia Gazette for its continued diligent efforts to access and disclose "public" information developed under The Freedom of Information Act, regardless of the topics covered. The most recent disclosures are evident on the front page of today's (March 16, 2016) Virginia Gazette – The politics behind the Project. Giving the citizens the option to read comments by various elected officials is very enlightening and very educational (no pun intended!). The content of the email from Kyra Cook (WJCC School Board) to the Superintendent of Schools evoked several thought:. 1) This is an elected official; 2) This person believes that ordinary citizens, whether for or against the James Blair plans, are not capable of understanding what is needed by the WJCC School System; 3) This person believes that ordinary citizens are not supposed to understand what is needed by the WJCC School System; 4) This person believes that only educators can understand what is needed by the WJCC School System. Well, fortunately or unfortunately, ordinary citizens are not, in fact, stupid, are capable of understanding what is needed when it is clearly explained and supported by factual information and backup material, and instinctively know when something is just not right with the answers being given. Displaying an attitude of superiority does not serve the WJCC School Board nor our community. The taxpayers deserve better representation.
