Williamsburg Christian Academy, Walsingham Academy and the College of William and Mary have been named as top schools in the state by Virginia Living magazine in its "State of Education" feature released this week.
The list includes 148 public schools, private schools and colleges that are "leading the way in education innovation around the state," according to an announcement from Virginia Living.
The magazine's editors created the list by rating schools in five categories: arts and humanities; science, math and technology; performing arts; health and medicine; and capital improvements.
Other schools in the region recognized on the list include Governor's School at New Horizons, Newport News City Public Schools, Hampton Roads Academy, Christopher Newport University, Hampton City Public Schools and Hampton University. The full list is published as a supplement to the magazine's September/October edition, available Sept. 5.
